It’s always a good idea to have a few plants in your veg patch that’ll give you a good crop for several weeks, or even months!
Cavolo Nero
Cavolo Nero is such a good grower and incredibly low maintenance. Just be sure to water it well in the early days so that it gets well established and then enjoy harvesting the outer leaves whenever you like. It’ll keep growing for months!
Courgette
If you can give courgette plants a bit of space (1m-2m is ideal) then you can get a seriously good crop out of them. They are thirsty plants so keep them well watered. Once flowers form check them on a daily basis as they fruits grow like lightning. Harvest them regularly, before they reach marrow size, and your courgette plant will keep flowering and fruiting for weeks. You could still be harvesting them in the autumn.
Runner Beans
Beans just keep on producing more beans! Once they start to flower, you’ll be able to harvest beans in abundance for a few weeks. The more you pick, the more they grow. They are such good croppers and really pretty in the garden too. If you find you have too many you can easily freeze them and enjoy them later in the year.
