This is a very popular, compact curly kale that is great for pots (and beds, too!) and requires little attention to produce a good crop. It is exceptionally hardy and grows really well through autumn and winter giving you a nice, constant supply of healthy greens from your garden. You can plant curly kale in spring for use in late summer and early autumn, or plant in summer/early autumn for a winter harvest. Cover with mesh netting to protect from pests. These plants will produce jade green spears which are beautiful and intriguing to look at. They are also delicious to eat! They taste like a mixture between broccoli and cauliflower and can be cooked in much the same way. Broccoli (Calabrese) – Green Sprouting

You get really lovely tones of colour on this kale plant as it grows, making it a very attractive addition to your veg patch and of course, it’s super healthy and easy to grow. Brussels Sprouts – Evesham Special

This traditional variety produces large quantities of medium size, solid sprouts which, if planted in early spring, will crop from October to Christmas. If you plant them later in the year, say June or July, you can expect a crop from December through to February. Sprouts are easy to grow, just remember to earth them up a little to keep them stable on windy days. Harvest them individually from the bottom of the stalk upwards, or pull up a whole stalk. Kohl Rabi – Delicacy Purple

Although popular in Europe, Kohl Rabi is not that common a vegetable in the UK. It tastes like a cross between a broccoli stalk and a turnip. Kohl Rabi ‘Delicacy Purple’ is an early maturing purple variety with round shaped stems and good quality, delicate flesh. Harvest once the diameter reaches about 10cm. Spring Cabbage

This is a dwarf variety that can be planted quite close together (25-30cm). When planted in spring you can expect to harvest it from July through to September. Alternatively, plant later and you can harvest later! You can harvest them as delicious, small, tender cabbages or a little later on once the heads have matured.
