This is an excellent non-heading lettuce that provides a steady supply of deep red, oak-shaped leaves. Use it as acut-and-come-again crop, harvesting regularly through the summer months. I noticed that the bay tree has done some good growing and it's now shading out even more of the raised bed that runs beside it. You do need to keep harvesting regularly though. You can either pick off the larger, outer leaves and leave the centre baby leaves to grow, or simply cut across the plant to about 6-8cm which will leave the centre leaves intact.
