How to Plant Yuzu Citrus Fruit
- Plant in a container (start small and re-pot as it grows) or in the ground, in a mild but sunny part of your plot – make sure it is not planted in a frost pocket.
- Slightly acidic soil is preferable, but not absolutely essential. If in doubt, dig plenty of organic compost into the soil before planting.
- Yuzu will grow to around 4m high, so give it plenty of space if planting in the ground.
How to Grow Yuzu Citrus Fruit
- If growing in a container, re-pot every 2 years.
- During hot, dry spells it is best to mist the leaves.
- Prune in late winter, removing diseased or damaged branches, and any that are growing inwards/crossing over.
How to Harvest Yuzu Citrus Fruit
Yuzu will flower in spring, and fruits follow. They should be ready to harvest from Oct – Jan. We find they are best harvested at a green-yellow stage, usually in Oct/Nov.
