How to Plant Hyssop

  • Hyssop loves the sun so give it as much as possible!
  • Plant in pots, or 45cm apart
  • Choose well-drained soil

How to Grow Hyssop

  • Pinch out the growing tips regularly to keep the plant nice and bushy
  • Deadhead flowers often
  • Cut back hard in early spring from the 2nd year onwards

How to Harvest Hyssop

  • Harvest sprigs as and when you want to use them – use it sparingly in the kitchen as the flavour is quite intense!
  • Try adding a few chopped leaves to casseroles or soups for a lemony tang.
  • You could try using it instead of tarragon with creamy chicken dishes as well.
