What to expect

Urban Constant Garden

Whether you placed a pre-order back in January, just popped an order in this week or are thinking about ordering soon, please read this for all the information you need regarding delivery of your plants!

A rough idea on delivery times:

Ordered before 31st March? We expect to ship your plants between mid April and mid/late May, depending on plant availability.

Ordered in April? We expect to ship your plants from mid May, although you may find we get your order delivered faster than this depending on plant availability.

Ordered a Year Round Veg Patch or Subscription? You’ll receive the next available delivery. Apart from the Small & Large Year Round Veg Patches, which have an April delivery, these will mostly start in May.

What to expect with your delivery:

  1. Please be aware that we aim to ship ALL your plants in a single delivery and we will do our very best to get the plants to you asap and to keep you posted with updates.
  2. We’ll send you an email when we have a provisional delivery window for your plants, and another when the delivery window is confirmed (usually about a week before we despatch your plants.) This will give you a chance to get your garden ready for planting.
  3. We’ll send you another email the day we send your plants to you, just to confirm that they’re on their way. You will be able to track your delivery from the tracking number in the email. The delivery should then arrive next day. Please use the tracking info to keep an eye on things, and if there are any problems drop us a message.
  4. Your plants will arrive in a box and will be carefully packed in plastic-free packaging. This, we have found, is the best way to keep them protected on their travels, and the cardboard can be added to the compost heap.
  5. Your plants may look a little weary as they will have been without water or sunlight whilst travelling. They will soon perk up – the best thing to do is soak their roots in a container of water on the day that they arrive and plant them out as soon as possible.
  6. Sometimes, plants just don’t survive the journey very well – in this case we are always happy to send replacements so please contact us and we can arrange that for you
  7. Most vegetable plants will be sent to you bare-rooted (i.e. not in pots). This keeps packaging to a minimum and makes planting quite easy. Herbs, fruit plants and a few root veggies are sent in biodegradable fibre pots. These can be planted as is, or you can carefully peel off the base of the pots. Try not to disturb the roots too much, and make sure the fibre pots are well soaked before planting so that roots can easily break through them.
  8. The plants will come in labelled cardboard sleeves for easy identification. On the outside, there is a QR code which you can scan for growing/planting advice. You’ll also receive a full growing guide with your plants. Have a good read of it and follow the guidelines when planting.
