If you want to really make the most of your veg patch this year, then take a look at this four-step planting schedule:

Early Spring - Feb/Mar/Apr
- Plant Garlic and Onion Sets from February
- Chit Seed Potatoes ready to plant out in March/April
- Plant Jerusalem Artichokes and Horseradish in April
Don’t be tempted to plant out other veg plug plants until the weather warms up a bit and all risk of frost has passed.

Mid-Spring - Apr/May/Jun
Once the weather warms up and all risk of frost has passed, you can start planting out the majority of your veg plants.
- Root Veg (parsnip, carrot, beetroot, swede, celeriac, turnip)
- Fruiting Veg (tomatoes, aubergines, cucumbers, courgettes, corn etc)
- Leeks and Onions
- Summer Salads & Leaves
- Brassicas (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbages, kale)
- Peas & Beans

Mid Summer - July/August
This is a great time to get a few extras in the ground to grow over the autumn months. This will give you a more continuous crop, extending your harvest time into autumn and even winter, and it’s a good way of filling up gaps that have appeared from early harvests:
- Kale
- Sprouting Broccoli
- Cabbages
- Cauliflower
- Carrots
- Beetroots
- Peas
- Leeks

Early Autumn - Late Aug/Sept
Assuming you’ve already got your extra brassicas in the ground in mid-summer (if not, plant them now), then the final things to plant will be:
- Winter Salad Leaves (great planted in a container by the front door for easy access in the colder months!)
- Spinach & Chard for the winter
- Spring Onions for an early crop the following spring
