How to Plant Chervil
- You will get more leaves for longer if you grow chervil in partial shade. This will help to prevent it from bolting
- Plant 20cm apart
- Choose moisture-retentive soil
How to Grow Chervil
- Keep them well-watered during dry spells
- Cut back regularly to keep the plant leafy for longer
- When it does eventually bolt, you can leave it to re-seed and it should produce several new plants for you to enjoy
How to Harvest Chervil
- Harvest leaves as you want to use them – they have a soft aniseed flavour, great for salads or sprinkled over chicken, fish and veg. It’s good mixed with mayo too.
Is Chervil good for Companion Planting?
- Try growing chervil alongside carrots to deter carrot root fly. It is said to repel slugs too, but so far we haven’t seen any evidence of this!
