How to Plant Cranberries
- Plant cranberries in pots or raised beds, 50cm apart.
- They are best in moist well-drained acidic soil (a pH of 4.0 – 5.5 is ideal) or ericaceous compost.
- Cranberry plants will do best in full sun, and sheltered from strong winds. They will tolerate a little light shade.
How to Grow Cranberries
- During the first growing season expect your plant to need watering daily. As it establishes this can be reduced, so in later years it will only need a thorough drench once or twice a week during prolonged dry spells in summer.
- Cut plants back lightly to keep them compact and bushy.
- Mulch in autumn or spring with an ericaceous compost.
- Cranberries rely on insect pollination, so plant them in amongst lots of flowers to attract more bees and pollinators.
