Make a hearty meat-free gravy for your Christmas dinner…this recipe is SO good!
Ingredients (serves 4-6)
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 1tbsp olive oil
- 500ml water/veg stock
- 1 veg stock cube
- 1 tbsp plain flour
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp marmite
- 1 tsp cranberry sauce/redcurrant jelly
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
- sea salt
Method
- Warm the olive oil in a pan on a medium heat
- Add the onions and a pinch of sea salt. Stir well and fry for 5 mins until they start to turn translucent.
- Add the flour and stir to coat the onions well.
- Add the stock/water gradually and keep mixing well so that it doesn’t get lumpy.
- Crumble in the stock cube, add the soy sauce, marmite, cranberry sauce & balsamic.
- Stir well & bring to the boil to thicken. If you need to loosen it slightly, just add a little water.
